Any invitation to additional session (midweek) should not be taken as an indication of the likely team that a player could be offered a spot in, rather the additional session will be to provide coaches with an opportunity to assess players in a smaller group setting. Likewise if you do not receive an invitation to an additional session this should not be viewed as an indication of a players prospects for making any particular team. It is likely that the coaching panel has a comprehensive understanding of a player and therefore there is no need for attendance at an additional session.

U20’s trial dates are yet to be determined, however they are likely to be later in October due to the U20 season commencing in calendar year 2018.

Unable to make a trial session?
Please let us know in advance if you haven’t already so that we can make a note of this.

Permission to Train Clearance
If you are currently a player registered within a championship program at another club, (for the avoidance of doubt, this means that you have played championship basketball during the 2017 season or in an earlier season at another club within the Victorian Junior Basketball League), you will need to bring a permission to train form (or a clearance form), with you when you attend the first trial for Eltham Wildcats Basketball Club. This form will need to have been signed by the appropriate administrator at the club that you are currently registered with. The form will need to be presented to the Girls Championship Co-ordinator for Eltham Wildcats Basketball Club on the day. If you do not have this form correctly completed and signed, you will be unable to participate in trials at Eltham Wildcats Basketball Club until the correct documentation is in place.  If you have already provided this documentation to Eltham Wildcats Basketball Club you do not have to provide it a second time. The permission to train forms (and clearance forms) can be downloaded from the VJBL website – click here.

Team Numbers
We are proposing to have between five and six teams for U12’s and U14’s, between four and five teams in the U16 age group, two teams in the U18 age group and one U20’s team. The number of teams in any age group will always be subject to depth within the age group.

Selection Process
There will be a formal selection panel governing team selections. The panel will include coaches and independent members.

Uniform
If you are an existing Eltham Wildcats championship player you are required to wear your full championship uniform during the trials.

If you are an Eltham Wildcats domestic player only. You are required to wear your full domestic uniform (with reversible top) during all trials.

If you are not a registered Eltham Wildcats championship or domestic player please wear suitable attire for the trials and ensure you have both a light and dark coloured singlet or tee shirt.

All players need to bring their basketball and a drink bottle. Players with medical conditions should bring any supporting equipment that they may need.

Parents & Guardians
At the commencement of the first trial parents and guardians are required to attend a briefing / question and answer session which will commence immediately after the commencement of each trial session. There is provision for parents / guardians to attend and watch the trials, however we encourage parents / guardians to allow players autonomy throughout the trials process. The trials process can be stressful and the presence of parents / guardians can add to this stress.

Communication throughout trials
If you wish to discuss anything in relation to the trials leading up to and during the trial period, your first and only point of contact is the Championship Girls Coordinator (David Wightman) via email (champgirls@elthamwildcats.net.au), telephone (0413 339 116) or in person.

On behalf of the Girls Championship Program we thank you for registering your intention to trial with Eltham Wildcats Basketball Club and we look forward to seeing you at the upcoming trials.

Kind Regards
