The Eltham Wildcats are thrilled to welcome back Geremy McKay for the 2020 NBL1 season.
McKay was a revelation in the inaugural NBL1 season for the Wildcats where he averaged 14.3ppg & 7.9rpg fast becoming a fan favourite with his style of play.
His grit and determination caught the eye of the South East Melbourne Phoenix where his hard work saw him debut against the Brisbane Bullets in October scoring his first NBL basket from none other than a tough contested offence rebound and put back.
McKay screams Eltham Wildcat basketball with his passion and work ethic says Coach Trev Lee.
“Geremy is a fantastic guy who plays each and every single game like it’s his last. He is well respected in our group and will do whatever it takes for the team to win. He is everything the Wildcats represent both on and off the court” Lee said.
The 24 year old Melbourne Tigers junior is excited to continue his relationship with Coach Lee and the Eltham Wildcats.
“I just had such a positive experience with the club, from coaches to teammates everyone was very welcoming. I also felt like there was some unfinished business, as we lost so many close games last season & I would love to try and rectify that in 2020.”
McKay wants the team and himself to take another step this season.
“For the 2020 season my expectation of the team is to make the playoffs, I think we have all the team, the staff and the culture to be able to do so. As for myself, I want to build on the foundation that I was able to lay last season and raise my game to a higher level.”
McKay will join previously announced players Adam Doyle, Mark Scherf and Christian Yammouni in the elite stream of high level basketball in Melbourne’s north-east. Stay tuned for more announcements to come.
