It has now been brought to our attention from Basketball Victoria that anyone who is or is intending to volunteer to be a Team Manager will require a Working with Children card. At the moment all Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Administration Staff, Office Staff, Committee Members, Grade Convenors, Referees, Referee Advisors and Clinic coaches over the age of 18 all must have a Working with Children card and a Member Protection Declaration (signed and witnessed).
If you are a teacher, in the police force or medical profession you will have already been screened and will only need to forward me a CLEAR COPY of your ID. Teachers will need to also send me a clear photo copy of their licence as there is no picture ID on your card.
A WWC card will last for 5 years and there is no cost as you will be classed as a Volunteer. The Declaration is for 2 years, a list of people who can sign the form is below for your convenience. CLICK HERE.

To apply for a WWC you need to CLICK HERE or go to the Department of Justice Website – Working with Children and follow the instructions. After filling in the form you take it to the Post Office and they will process it. You will need 100 points (passport, licence etc.) and a photo.
Please make sure when filling out the form that you put Eltham Basketball Club, P.O. Box 220 Eltham as our address otherwise when the Department of Justice send out the confirmation letter that you have received a WWC card it could go anywhere.
Given the new Legislation the Club would advise ALL PARENTS to be proactive and get your WWC card in case of emergency scenario so the Club and you are protected.
Please note that THIS IS NOW MANDATORY so be proactive and have this done before the new season starts if are you intending to be a helper at the Eltham Basketball Club.
REMEMBER THIS IS FOR THE PROTECTION OF YOUR CHILD/CHILDREN.
