The Wildcats are excited to announce a Free Beginners/Introductory Coaching Clinic next Tuesday the 27th September at 7pm Eltham High School Court 1. This course will be led by Tom O’Connor. Tom is a highly regarded coach who has experience coaching at all levels here at Eltham, while also being a current NBL1 Player. Tom is now a Basketball Victoria Association Development Officer and is the perfect person to educate incoming coaches the fundamentals of coaching and strategies for teaching young people.
The session will cover how to run a training including examples of drills, some basic offensive and defensive principles, and how to engage and teach Youth effectively.
We strongly encourage all domestic coaches who are relatively new to the role to attend, or even those who just want to brush up on their knowledge for the upcoming season. Similarly, if you haven’t started coaching yet but are thinking about it – this is the perfect chance to dip your toe in the water and prepare for when you do decide to put your hand up.
