Junior Domestic Teams Announced – Summer 24/25
Welcome to the Eltham Wildcats Basketball Club for the 2024/25 Summer Season
We understand there is quite a lot of information below but we do members that they read it all in full in order to be best informed on policies, processes and any changes to past seasons that are important for families to understand. We make particular note that the Eltham Wildcats official domestic shorts are now a mandatory item according to the updated EDJBA By-laws. Plain black shorts of any kind are not permitted and will leave your team vulnerable to points penalties that are out of the clubs control.
As you would be aware we rely upon the involvement of our members to take positions as Team Managers and Coaches within our teams, and strongly encourage you to consider putting your hand up to take one of these roles should there be a vacancy in your team. Whether you are a returning Wildcat or a new club member we are excited for you to be a part of our program this upcoming season.
If you have any concerns or issues with selections, availability or alike, your line of communication is through the Age Group Convenor. Office staff or coaches are unable to assist and will rightly steer you back to the
Age Group Convenor via email.
Training & Games
Training will commence Monday 7th October and round 1 of grading tips off on Saturday 12th October.
Team Numbers
What does the team number mean? It is nothing more than a guide. We do not expect the team numbers to grade in order from 1-20, in fact we expect them to be out of order. There are a number of reasons for this such as, but not limited to, friendship requests, training requests and game time requests.
Player not listed on any team
First, please double check you have looked through the relevant age group of your child. If a name does not appear on any team list it might be because the player has not been registered. No player can participate in a team until they are registered.
Team Placement Queries
If you do wish to proceed with a request to review selection or correction of error, please contact only the
Age Group Convenor by email. Convenors will not be receiving or making personal calls.
The convenor will record your requests and convey them to the selection committees. We will respond as soon as we consider that most requests have arrived, so they can be reviewed together. We emphasise to communicate only to the Age Group Convenor. Private arrangements with coaches will not be endorsed. Again, we please ask for your patience regarding responses to any team selection queries.
All self-coached teams will need to submit a team manager to allocate training. Spots are very limited, most days we have 4:30pm timeslots available otherwise late evening. Please submit one request per team via this Cognito form –

Wednesday 2nd October – 4pm – 7pm
Thursday 3rd October – 4pm – 7pm
Monday 7th October – 4pm – 7pm
Tuesday 8th October – 4pm – 7pm
Normal Times will return ongoing:

Saturday 12th October – 9am – 3pm
The Wildcat Store is located at Eltham High School Sports Stadium (30-60 Withers Way, Eltham).
Please note that this season the Wildcats have utilised a new supplier to restock our uniforms – so you may notice very slight variances between items manufactured by this supplier in comparison to existing stock. The difference is negligible and prices remain the exact same for items manufactured by both suppliers. Due to the Wildcats Domestic Shorts now being a mandatory item as required by the EDJBA – the club now has both a unisex and women’s cut of shorts available at the same price.
Domestic Shorts (Unisex and Womens versions) – $35
As per new EDJBA requirements and effective immediately only official Eltham Wildcat Domestic Shorts are allowed to be worn. As of the Summer 2024/25 season the league will mandate that only Eltham Wildcats branded shorts are to be acceptable – so should you be purchasing shorts for this season you must purchase the Eltham branded ones available at the uniform shop. Points penalties may be applicable for players/teams that don’t wear the correct shorts.
Please note that Molten basketballs must be used as the game-balls during domestic games due to their support of the EDJBA. Every team should have a supplied ball but if this not available, the venue should have spare balls to utilise.
Teams needing Coaches – Please Put Your Hand Up
As you will be able to see from team lists, we still have a number of teams who need coaches for the upcoming season. If you are a parent of one of these teams, we ask you to strongly consider putting your hand up. Similarly, an older sibling or family friend can be another great option for these positions. If your team does have a coach but you have an interest in coaching yourself, please put your hand up to coach another team! It can be a great experience to coach a brand new group of kids. If you do coach more than one team we are able to work with the EDJBA on not having your games clash. We work tirelessly to fill these positions, but we rely on family members and friends to fill these positions, so please, if you are willing and have a basic understanding of the game, put your hand up and join the team! Contact the Age Group Convenor if you or someone else are willing to take a team.
Teams needing a Team Manager – please assist
If you are able to assist your team with advising game times, make up a scoring roster and communicate other information either within the team or from the club then you are the person we are looking for. Please advise your coach and the club via this form (
Team Manager Application – EDJBA Summer 24/25) so we can ensure your details are correct on our database.
Request to change training
· ALL trainings will remain as posted until after round 1 and we cannot guarantee changes can be made. All requests will be reviewed on an individual basis however any teams that are already in an allocated position and are not requesting a change will not be moved. Only those asking for a change will be the spots we have available. The only spots that will be utilised in moving teams are those of other teams that are also requesting to change times.
EDJBA League Link
Eltham plays in a competition called the Eastern Districts Junior Basketball Association (EDJBA).
You can find the link to the EDJBA Website here –
