The Eltham Wildcats Basketball Club would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of Paul Tysoe who passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday.
Paul had recently returned to referee-coaching at Eltham after a break of a few years. He completed his Grade 2 re-accreditation with Basketball Victoria last year and was actively coaching our referees.
Paul was well known not only within the club, but also within the wider local community. He was a career policeman, rising to the rank of Inspector and was most recently officer-in-charge of the forensic laboratory at Macleod. He retired from the Police only in the last year or so.
“Paul was a long-serving Eltham referee of 20 years, current Referee-Coach and a mentor to many young up and coming officials. A genuine person and a warmly recognisable face around the basketball club, Paul will be missed.” VBRA Eltham Branch President Elliot Green said.
On behalf of the Eltham Basketball Club and the VBRA Eltham Branch, we extend our deepest condolences to his sons Scott and Luke (both of whom refereed at Eltham), to the whole Tysoe family, and to his many friends in basketball and the wider community.
