NBL1 Women Sign Country Forward

The Eltham Wildcats are thrilled to announce the signing of Rhianna Barton for the 2019 NBL1 season. Barton was born and raised in Shepparton where she began playing basketball at the age of 5. She represented Victoria Country in U18’s, won the 2014 Big V Women All Star Centre & Defensive Player of the Year awards and captained the Country team in the 2016 Big V Origin All Star series.

The 22 year old couldn’t pass up the opportunity to play with the Wildcats in 2019.

“Eltham has always been such a strong club and very well respected. When the opportunity came up especially with the new NBL1 then it was too big of an opportunity not to take up.”

The 6 foot forward will bring the Wildcats some strength and consistency in rebounding. Coach Grant Spencer is excited about what Rhianna will bring on both ends of the court.

“Rhianna is a no-frills workhorse. She loves being physical, has a great shot range and a very good rebounder. She put up great all-round numbers for Shepparton in the Country Basketball League (CBL) this season earning herself an All-Star 5 award.

You can see Rhianna and the Wildcats in action against the Diamond Valley Eagles on Saturday March the 30th or in our home opener on Saturday 6th April at Eltham High School.
