Summer 2023/24 Teams Announced

Welcome to the Eltham Wildcats Basketball Club for the 2023/24 Summer Season
PROUDLY SUPPORTED BY JELLIS CRAIG NORTH EAST

If you have any concerns or issues with selections, availability or alike, your line of communication is through the Age Group Convenor. Office staff or coaches are unable to assist and will rightly steer you back to the Age Group Convenor via email.

Training & Games
Training will commence Monday 2nd of October and round 1 of grading tips off on Saturday 7th October.

Team Numbers
What does the team number mean? It is nothing more than a guide. We do not expect the team numbers to grade in order from 1-20, in fact we expect them to be out of order. There are a number of reasons for this such as, but not limited to, friendship requests, training requests and game time requests.

Player Not listed on any team
First, please double check you have looked through the relevant age group of your child. If a name does not appear on any team list it might be because the player has not been registered. No player can participate in a team until they are registered.

If you realised you have not enrolled, please contact your respective Age Group Convenor.

Team Placement Queries
If you do wish to proceed with a request to review selection or correction of error, please contact only the Age Group Convenor by email as listed in attachment.

The convenor will record your requests and convey them to the selection committees. We will respond as soon as we consider that most requests have arrived, so they can be reviewed together. We emphasise talk only to the Age Group Convenor. Private arrangements with coaches will not be endorsed. Again, we please ask for your patience regarding responses to any team selection queries.

Self-Coached Teams
All self-coached teams will need to submit a team manager to allocate training. Spots are very limited, most days we have 4:30pm timeslots available otherwise late evening. Please email details to juniordomestic@elthamwildcats.net.au

Domestic Shorts

As per EDJBA and effective immediately only official Eltham Wildcat Domestic Shorts or plain black basketball shorts are allowed to be worn. Shorts should be free of any pockets, logos, patterns, or excessive branding that may detract from the overall uniformity.  The following types of shorts are strictly prohibited:

– Running shorts

– Football shorts

– Bike shorts

– Shorts with any logos, except for approved club logos

– Shorts with team-specific colours or designs

Molten Basketballs

Please note EDJBA will now be fining teams $50 for each violation for teams not warming up and playing with the correct Molten basketball. Teams are allowed to use any basketball at training but restricted to the use of only Molten EDJBA game balls on Saturday.

Teams Needing Coaches – Please Put Your Hand Up
As you will be able to see from team lists, we still have a number of teams who need coaches for the upcoming season. If you are a parent of one of these teams, we ask you to strongly consider putting your hand up. Similarly, an older sibling or family friend can be another great option for these positions. If your team does have a coach but you have an interest in coaching yourself, please put your hand up to coach another team! It can be a great experience to coach a brand new group of kids, and we are able to work with the EDJBA on not having your games clash with your own child’s. We work tirelessly to fill these positions, but we rely on family members and friends to fill these positions, so please, if you are willing and have a basic understanding of the game, put your hand up and join the team! Contact the relevant age group convenor if you or someone else are willing to take a team.

Summer Season Coach Information Session

EDJBA League Link
Eltham plays in a competition called the Eastern District Junior Basketball Association (EDJBA).

You can find the link to the EDJBA Website here – https://edjba.com.au/ This is where you will find information about the league, and most importantly your game times. We expect the first round will be released some time mid next week.

If you have any further queries, you must contact the Eltham Wildcats and not the EDJBA.
