Eltham Wildcats 53 def by Nunawading Spectres 79
Top Performers: Z. Cunningham 15 points/5 rebounds, O. Magbegor 11 points/13 rebounds/2 steals/2 blocks

The 2019 VYCM Grand Final series between the Wildcats and Spectres is set to be a clash of the titans, and unfortunately Eltham took the first blow on Sunday afternoon in Game One. The Spectres came out strong in front of their home crowd with a 22-8 first quarter, a quarter which was riddled with turnovers and missed shots from the Wildcats.

Eltham continued to struggle to find their rhythm in the second quarter, ending in a 21 point deficit at the half. Some big shots from Zak Cunningham and Christian Yammouni in the third period cut the Spectres lead to 14 at the final break. Unfortunately the Wildcats couldn’t get across the line with an offensive outburst from Remo Simankevicius in the final ten minutes put a dagger in the Wildcat’s comeback hopes.

Eltham will look to square the series up at Eltham High School this Saturday night at 7pm. Tickets will be available via Trybooking.

If Eltham win Game Two then Game Three will be held on Sunday (2:30pm) at Eltham High School after the NBL1 Men take on Zheijang Lions from the Chinese Basketball League at 12:30pm.
